My Mama Always Said
My Mama always said you should never serve what she calls a "Great White Dinner". A "Great White Dinner" is a meal without any green on the plate. Mama is right because we all need our veggies! Sometimes Mama would serve dinner and realize that she had forgotten the green vegetable, and rice, chicken, and a roll will not suffice. You need that green. An orange vegetable like carrots will also help break up the monotony. And remember, a little parsley goes a long way! Merry Merry!
You are so right! My mama always taught us that the darker the fruit or vegetable, the better it was (more vitamins) for us. Perfect example: red/purple grapes always trump green. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever bought green grapes for my boys!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I've started following you on Twitter... trying to get with the program for 2010!
ITA! I have been saying to hubby all weekend that none of the dinners we have been having have even a hint of vegetable in them! I so need to get back to my very green diet!
ReplyDeleteOh yeh girl! I can't stand a *white plate*. My kids think I am kooky....give them all starches and they are happy! Sometimes it's as much about the presentation!
ReplyDeleteVery wisely spoken. The greener the better. I'm with you on that, especially about now. I'm tired of the hloiday food and goodies. Don't get me wrong it was wonderful, but I need me some vegetables. I don't think my body can take anymore cream, potatoes, cheese or fatty foods.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've missed you! Love catching up! Merry Christmas, friend. From someone who totally agrees with your momma.
ReplyDeleteYOU GO GIRL! I need my veggies! And my Henley mama has been gone too long! Come home!
