Out of the Mouths of Babes

Our sweet son turned to me after school yesterday and asked a good question. "Mama, were all parents that are alive now born in the 1900s?"
I had to think about it for a minute. Then I realized that he was right. "Yes, son, you are right. All parents who are alive today were born in the 1900s."
Then, I wanted to bow my head and cry. We are OLD!

Dear Mrs. Smith...

*Names have been changed in this letter to respect the privacy of others*

Tonight I learned that another woman has stolen my son's heart. He can't bear to let her go. Neither can I! He loves and adores this woman. He has learned so much from her and he can't bear to leave his side. She is his 2nd grade teacher. I found our precious boy in bed writing her a letter. I read it and cried. Then, he wept with me. We wept together and I thanked God for a teacher who would touch our son's heart by teaching him so well. Mrs. Smith loves our children. She has taught them patiently. She will not let them leave school discouraged. She has protected them, disciplined them, taught them, and walked beside them. DH & I are forever grateful. Our children are too, as you will see from our boy's letter to Mrs. Smith.

Dear Mrs. Smith,

I will miss you always and forever. I will miss you this summer. I am so sad that I half to go. I will miss your smile and everything you do. I will see you at the playground at lunch. I will miss being in your class. I will miss being your helper. I will miss you being there to help like on Math when I am stuck on it you can't help, only Mrs. Jones (teacher for next year). I will miss that. I will miss everything you do. I will miss your joy and gladness. I will miss you when you are sad or angrey. I will miss you no matter what.
Love,
Mama Henley's boy

My Boy Valentine

We had a fabulous Valentine's Day weekend as a family. What is sweeter than an 8 year old boy who still adores his mama? Our boy was such a good sport as his sisters wore their princess gowns and dined with Cinderella and Prince Charming. He couldn't wait to ride the rides at Disney. Space Mountain and Tower of Terror were his favorites. What a special boy!!

Out of the Mouths of babes

Our children attend a wonderful private school. Unfortunately, private schools have tuition, which was something new to get used to upon our moved here. Last week a notice was sent home saying that children can buy a Chick Fil A lunch every Tuesday if they would like to do so. However, you have to go ahead and commit and pre-pay for all 12 weeks. Each meal is about $4 x 12 weeks x 4 children = $192. I decided that I will happily bring them a surprise lunch every once in a while, but that this was not a wise expense on my part, so we declined. The children did not complain like I thought they would. No one begged for Chick Fil A, even though they LOVE it. They understood.

Tonight our sweet friend announced, "Woo Hoo! Tomorrow is Chick Fil A day!!" Dh & I laughed and said, "Not for us!" DH is hilarious & made us all laugh with his funny comments. Our precious son said, "We got new sweaters instead!!" Be still my beating heart. What a sweet boy.... the new sweaters to which he is referring are REQUIRED school logo sweaters, not some fun new outfit!! I love his grateful heart and wish I was more like him!!!
