Favorite Chef's Knife
I have some nice Henkel knives that I have enjoyed. We have a set of them. They work well, but I think I may want a chef's knife or santoku knife for my birthday or Christmas gift. A local chef recommended Wusthof, which is what believe my chef cousin uses. What do you recommend? I would LOVE to hear your favorites!

We have Wusthof, and have been pleased with them. We've had them since at least 2002.
I have Wusthof too and have two problems with the same knife. They do allow you to return them. I bought mine at Crate and Barrel and they were real nice about it. Both problems occured while cutting brownies on the edge where they are a little crispy. I think knives that cost that much should hold up to pan of brownies. We do really like them though other than that!
I gave my husband the Wusthof for Valentine's Day two years ago. He loves it!
Have you ever tried Global knives? I noticed Giada using one once and bought one. We love it!
Also a Wusthof fan!
Don't knwo if you are still wanting knives but macy's has a big sale+free shipping right now! i think ends today or tomorrow!!

Hello,
Chef's knife is an all-purpose, typically long knife that is used by professional chefs and many cooks at home. It’s one of the knives that is essential to kitchen work and probably one of the better investments you can make when stocking your kitchen. In professional kitchens, the chef's knife is indispensable, and probably one of the most frequently used knives. Thanks a lot.
