OOPS!

At church on Sunday, we met so many new people. I thought someone had told me I needed to meet Laurie Hoar because she had 5 children too. I had seen the name in the church directory, and thought nothing of the pronunciation. So, I met a lady named Laurie.

The conversation went like this:

Me: "How many children do you have?"

L: "We have 5 boys."

Me: "Oh, you must be the Hoars (think of how this sounds)

L: Her head jerked kind of funny, she looked at me with a puzzled expression, and said, "No, we're the C....."

Ahhhh.... the joy of a first impression. I think I may have ruined this friendship from the start!!
