Tuesday's Tip

What a JOY it is to receive potted flowers as a gift. When our precious triplets were born, the church had three Easter lillies on the altar in their honor. I was still in the hospital and did not get to attend the service, but they delivered the flowers to us after the service. Dh & I enjoyed their beauty and fragrant smell until all of the blooms fell off of the stems. I couldn't bare to part with these lovely reminders of our precious triplets' birth. Therefore, we planted the lillies in our yard by the back door so that we could enjoy them every spring.
We were also given three GORGEOUS hydrangea plants when the triplets were born!! Doug's sweet Daddy went out in our yard and planted them in three different places for our enjoyment. Every June I loved being able to clip beautiful hydrangea blossoms. I filled vase after vase in our home. One of the hardest things to leave at our old house were those hydrangeas!! They grew larger and larger over the years. So, if you receive a potted plant, investigate to see if it can be planted in your yard!

Love this! We love planting hydrangeas when we've received them as baby gifts!

I'm sure ours would have made sweet memories if I'd remembered to water them once they got in the yard. :)

Have a great day!

I love hydrangeas. Hubby gave them to me once for Mother's Day, but I neglected to plant them in time. Perhaps I'll hint hard for another plant this year!

I was just given some gardenias after 10 years of searching for them in the markets, what a fab gift, I only wish I could plant them, the cold would kill them here. Great tip.

I was 6 when my family relocated from Ohio to a suburb of New York City and the one thing I remember about the drive east with my parents and 3 older sisters was the number of plants in the car. Being little miss garden club of America, my other uprooted so many plants from our yard to replant at our new home.

There were WAY more plants in the car than people. The plants survived in their garbage bags for over 72 hours. Plants(parts of them at least) can always move with you :)

Wish I still had the gardenia we planted when J was born...

Hydrageas are my absolute favorite. Mike and I had them all over when we got married. Special place in my heart.

LOVE hydrangeas! I have one in my front yard that has been rooted 4 times and originally was my great grandmother's.

Last night was so fun! Loved meeting F--she is hilarious! An old friend is such a jewel, isn't it?

Funny post to the G.P. a while back. I second the tramp stamp sentiment. Get one if you have to, but for crying out loud, put some clothes on over it if you're going to Disney!

I love receiving potted plants too. My two large hydrangeas are 10 years old. One I received when my elderly aunt allowed me to take it, a condolence acknowledgement sent to her when my uncle passed away. The other my MIL gave me. MIL also gave me several of my now large gardenia bushes, and a mimosa tree. She passed away last year so those plants mean so much to us now.

We planted the azalea my grandmother gave us after Miss Priss was born and I was so sad to leave it when we had to move!
