Years ago I was in a Titus 2:4 Small Group with a wonderful woman named Laura who was almost 40 at the time. I was in my early 20s, and there were 4 other girls around my age in the group. As a newlywed, I learned so much from Laura, Lucy, Margaret, Debbie, and Catherine. One of the many things Laura did well was serve her family. Each evening she would set the table for the next morning. When her three boys arrived home from school, a special snack usually awaited them. Laura believed in serving something hot and delicious that would entice her boys and their friends to play at her house. I always admired her ability to make everything beautiful. I am guilty of letting the children come in and serve themselves. So yesterday I decided to try to be like Laura and to serve my sweet children a pretty snack. I set the table with fun bowls of pretzels and grapes. I filled glasses with crushed ice and waited to pour the pink ginger ale when they walked in the door. It was easy to make it look fun with all of our Easter decorations.
Our sweet ones did seem to love it, so I am going to try to do this more often!

I'm sure those cuties loved it and I'm just guessing you did too. What a simple act of pure joy :)
Such a sweet table! You did a great job making the snacks look so inviting.
Do you happen to read "A Little Loveliness" by Melissa Lester. I didn't see her listed on your Favorite Blogs list, but I'm sure, if you haven't already come across her blog, would love her! You two seem like kindred spirits.
She, too, loves to serve her family and has the most beautiful children and home as well as sensational hostess ideas. She has tons of links to her posts for different birthday parties/teas that she has thrown over the years for her own children.
I happened to discover her blog when I did a google search on pillowcase dresses!
Here's her link if you'd care to lurk!
Blessings,
Valerie
P.S. Thanks so much for dropping by and leaving your kind words!

What a wonderful idea! I love this. :)
I think it's so sweet that it stuck with you all those years. Yes, I am sure your little ones LOVED IT! My mother (when she could with 4 of us running around) often would do sweet things like this too. It's amazing how the little things stay with you; I'm sure your children will cherish these memories and loving gestures. You are amazing! XOXO
What a sweet afternoon treat ~ it's all about the childhood memories and the time creating them. You are a top notch mama!

YOU GO GIRL! You are a super mom and you do sweet thing for your precious babies more often that you give yourself credit for. I love that Bug has cloth napkin in her lunch box. You are always available for them when they need you. Not all Mama's are like that. They will thank God for their Prov. 31 Mama one day. Be encouraged in your constant, faithful, labor of love; it is not in vain.
Next time, I'll be over for after school snacks too.
What a sweet idea...
OH... and thanks for your sweet comments. It's so sad that Disney and Nick put on the junk right at 3:00. I think they definitely know what they are doing!
Great idea! Lovely table!
What a lovely idea and memory!
This is such a cute great idea! Sometimes we are so busy we forget to sit down for two seconds and make something so simple a little more special!
