Tuesday's Tip

It's Tuesday! Having a pool is so much fun. We are enjoying our second pool season Chez Mama Henley. Thankfully we have a great cabana boy! There are many things one needs when you have a pool, so I've composed a list of some things that make life easier here!

-Have a large supply of sunscreen with a high SPF. We have found that the sprays make it easier to apply but that you MUST reapply. We use the Neutrogena or Hawaiian Tropic face sticks for faces and ears. The children can do this themselves! I even put a stick in each child's lunch box for super hot Florida days.

-You need LOTS of towels. We have a stack per child in our linen closet. Yes, there are five stacks of beach towels! We are always ready to share a towel with a friend.

-Goggles are another must-have. Visitors will often need to borrow a pair.

-Pool toys and floats. It never gets old to pour water in and out of a pitcher or to paint with paintbrushes or to ride in a float. Floats also break or pop, so it's nice to get a new one each year.

-WATER I keep our second fridge filled with bottled water. Of course we also use faucet water, but sometimes it's easier to just grab a bottle and then you know how much your child has ingested.

-I also keep Capri Sun or MinuteMaid lemonade on hand for a quick drink.

-Children LOVE popsicles. The best ones are the all-fruit ones, but any cool treat will do!

-I bring out bowls of goldfish, pretzels, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, cheeze-its, apple slices, sliced carrots, etc. It's amazing how children will eat anything that is served in a pretty bowl. I keep these things on hand at all times.

-We also keep plenty of hot dogs in our fridge or freezer so that we can have an impromptu cookout. I buy big bags of chips when they're buy one/get one free for this very reason.

-I also keep extra ketchup and mustard and other condiments on hand.

-I also keep fun drinks and things on hand for adults, along with cute napkins so that I can serve the adults as well.

-If we are having a true pool party, then I hire a lifeguard. I pay about $15 an hour, and it is always worth it! Saving lives is priceless.

Happy Summer, friends!

Wow you must have people over all the time! I have a pool too and rarely do we need this amount of stuff. We have one pool party on Labour day and the rest of the time it's just us!

Great tips! I do wish we had a pool... But, whenever we go to a pool party I usually bring towels as a hostess gift.

As always, love your lists! Will keep this in mind too. Wish we had a pool...perfect for your family. So much easier than having to pack it all up to visit a pool, right?

And after a few years of having a pool, you will wonder where you got all the random beach towels! Somebody always leaves at least one!

Makes me want to be one of those goggle/towel borrowing, hot dog eating guests! Sounds dreamy!

So jealous that you have a pool. Gillian Grace loves spending time poolside. Thank goodness my parents have a pool! You are so right about all your must haves...sunscreen is a must, especially when your only 10 months old! Have a great Wednesday!

I loved this post! We don't even have a pool yet & I keep a lot of that stuff on hand & in the back of the Denali. I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up, for some reason you aren't coming up on my blog roll. But I'm going to manually fix in right now. or at least try.
