Care for Sterling Silver
Every good Southern girl has some sterling silver flatware. Perhaps it was your grandmother's or your great aunt's or even your mama's set. Some girls request sterling flatware on their bridal registry while others comb estate sales to round out their pattern. Caring for your sterling is one of the joys of owning it. It tarnishes easily, so one must pull out the silver polish and polish away! However, there is a neat trick that helps prevent tarnishing. Put one piece of white chalk in your sterling drawer. You will be amazed at how it prevents tarnish. So, what patterns do you all have? Are you an Old Maryland Engraved girl, a Repousse' woman or a Tiffany Audubon Birds lady? Do tell, honey!

Thanks for the helpful tip ~ I've never heard that one.
Gosh, I'm not certain of mine. It was my great grandmothers that was handed down to my mother which was handed down to me when she passed away.

Thank for asking about my son and his health. He is doing so much better but it took weeks to get all his strength back ~ you are so sweet to remember!
Haven't heard the chalk tip--will have to try it!
I love my Towle Old Master (as a bride, I chose the same pattern my mother and grandmother have and I've continued to add to it over the years). And I really should use it more often like you use yours. Really a shame to let it stay hidden away and tarnishing!
I use mine! It's Gorham Old French and it's not too fancy for everyday use. I will try the chalk idea.
I greatly appreciate all the fabulous tips!
xo enjoy your day
Thank you! I am so clueless about this stuff 9/10. PS- new follower. Love your blog! xx
What a wonderful tip! Thanks so much for this. I never know how to take care of the sterling.
I have never heard the white chalk tip...What a great idea!
I have Gorham "Buttercup" -- very Southern and also the patter on my mother and both grandmothers.
I'm a Repousse' gal! But I do love Buttercup from the previous post! That's a beautiful pattern!
I'll try out the chalk for sure!
Going to the Dollar Tree and buying chalk when we get home from the beach! You are so smart...
And you know my pattern: Fairfax, like yours!
