Thankful

Wow! This week has flown! Sometimes I feel like life is moving forward without me while I try to hang on as tightly as I can! We've had a normal week with homework, activities, lots of hugs, laughter, ballet, golf, piano, family dinners, and school events. Life is full, but life is so good. I have been praying that I will delight in the mundane including washing clothes daily, emptying the dishwasher twice a day, and meal planning. I am much happier when I delight in these things rather than dread them. I am thankful that my body is healthy enough that I can do these things. I am thankful that I get to share my life with such a wonderful husband whom I love more each day and five beautiful precious children. I am so blessed.

As we enter Thanksgiving week and enjoy celebrations at school and with family and friends, for what are you thankful? Are you thankful for the mundane day to day activities? Have you been a good friend this week? Have you reached out to your parents and in-laws? What about your siblings and neighbors? Pray about how the Lord might use you in someone else's life. When we were first married, my Bible Study leader, Laura, said that she would often double their dinner. While she was making it, she would pray that the Lord would reveal who most needed the meal. I love this. What a way to love your neighbor! How will you show your thankful heart this Thanksgiving? Inspire me! Mama Henley can always be more giving and more thankful!

I was just thinking that I needed to a "thankful" post each day from now until Thanksgiving because I was having a mundane day. (I am glad to know that someone else out there empties and refills their dishwasher multiple times per day). Thanks for showing me that I do indeed need to be thankful!!

I also meant to say that today I am especially thankful for the time I get to spend with family. My dear friend lost her grandmother suddenly today. Tonight I will be thankful to be making food for both our families.

I am so thankful to read this post today. When I look at my day as a series of to do lists, it is hard to see the joy in the mundane. However, a thankful spirit is the best way to make each of our days brighter. Thank you so much for this post. I am thankful for your blog because it was so encouraging to me when I needed it! :)

Such good things to think about. We were blessed to get new kitchen appliances (much needed) for free this week. It's been crazy getting all the old out and new in, but what a blessing. I have been really working on not worrying over the messy, cluttered house, but rejoicing in our Lord's provisions! We couldn't afford new ones. Yay for God meeting our need at his time!

Thank you for the reminder that those mundane things usually mean that we are:
(1) without illness
(2) surrounded by loved ones
(3) blessed with the things that create those mundance taskes (i.e. home, children etc.
(4) that the good Lord is on our side.
There are a lot of people who can't necessarily say this right now, so this was a very nice remdinder! Thanks for posting!

I just posted about our family's "gratitude tree". It's amazing what so-called "little" things I am so grateful for!
