Partner with them

When I want to have a really good belly laugh, or if I need some real inspiration in my wavering faith, I head on over to Hood Mama Mel's blog. Melissa is one of the best writers at here in the blogosphere. I have never laughed or cried quite like I do when I read her blog. Melissa and her husband, Trey, who doesn't love Milk Duds and Diet Coke as much as she does, live in the inner city of Dallas, Texas where they have a ministry called Mercy Street Ministry. They genuinely love their neighbors and live in their neighborhood so that they can love them better. In all of the time I have read Melissa's blog, she has never asked for money for Mercy Street. Unfortunately, giving is down 35% and a bad economy often produces more needy people. Less money + more needs is not a good thing. As you start or finish your Christmas shopping this year, please consider a gift to Mercy Street. Every little bit helps. If 50 people give just $5, then Mercy Street would have $250 to really help their program. I understand that it's easy to be wary of people and ministries we don't know, but I can tell you that Mama Henley truly believes in the vision of this ministry. I also pray that it's vision will continue to spread to other cities! We have family members that don't need anything, so we are going to give in their honor this Christmas. Won't you do the same?

To read Melissa's blog go here. If you'd like to donate, please go HERE. For those of you who would like to learn more about Mercy Street, please go here.

In lieu of a giveaway, I am going to make a gift to Mercy Street in YOUR HONOR!!! That's right. Happy Thanksgiving, dear readers, you are helping love on some children who need love more than we know!!! Perhaps other bloggers will donate in honor of their readers too! I am thankful for you, and I know Mercy Street is thankful for every dollar they will receive!
