Tuesday's Tip... Teacher Gifts
My friend, W, is a genius. She knows exactly how to love on the people in her life. For her son's teacher's birthday, she has collected items for a wonderful gift basket. Each student in the class was invited to send in items to fill a special gift basket. I didn't get to look at it closely, but it looked like the basket contained a large jar of chocolate covered almonds (the teacher's favorite), pasta sauce, fun pasta, etc. It was a very nice large rectangular basket that was overflowing with goodies. Since each student could send in an item or two, no one family should have been over-burdened. I think this was a great way for everyone to pamper their teacher on her special day! What gifts do you like to give your teachers?

I was a teacher before I was a mom and I LOVE that idea. If you know the teacher well, make her dinner one night - a lasagna or some soup! Gives her more time with her family and warm thoughts for your child!
I love the basket idea! The teachers here just want gift cards but I think doing creative things for them :)
When I am the homeroom Mom and one of our teacher's has a birthday, I like to help the children create a celebration, behind the scenes. I have my child make a Happy Birthday poster and we get to school early and hide out in the hall outside the classroom door. As the children start arriving, my child carries the poster in the room first, the next child carries in an empty vase, and one by one after the children carry in the flowers that will make up the bouquet that goes in the vase. I also make a coffee cake and bring paper products so the teacher can have a class celebration at some point during the day that is convenience for her. It's a way to celebrate the day and make the teacher feel special.
Teacher gift giving is always so hard, one idea although not creative but nice is when every family donates $10 to a gift card and that way the teacher can buy something real/needed.
I just made each of the kids' teachers monogrammed pumpkins (artificial from Michaels) as a little Halloween treat. They are on my blog. They LOVED them and it was so easy. Generally I give gift cards. They seem to appreciate that the most.
