The Girl She Used to Be

Since reading "The Help" several months ago, I have not read a book. I have read blogs, magazines, and the newspaper, but for some reason, I haven't read a book. I love to read. As a child, my friend, V, and I would have contests to see who could read the most books in a night. One night we read until the wee hours of the morning. We each completed 17 chapter books. With our dual competitive nature, we couldn't let the other person win, so we both won. I can still look to V for good book recommendations, even though years go by without us actually seeing one another in person. Perhaps V would do a guest post of good book recommendations.
I happened to pick up a great book off of the New Book Shelf at the library. The book is "The Girl She Used to Be" and it is the first novel written by David Cristofano. He has proven to be an excellent writer. This book was about a young girl who witnessed a murder and was subsequently put in the Witness Protection Program. The story that unfolds is fabulous and intriguing. It's a must read!

I also LOVE to read. I am in 3 book clubs in Delhi! Have you ever read Nancy Mitford? They have just reissued "Wigs on the Green." It was last published in 1935. You might enjoy William Dalrymple's "City of Djinn's" about Delhi. I LOVED "The Help."

I am always so thrilled when a *great* book jolts me out of a reading slump. I've been in the same boat lately. Thank you for the recommendation!

I JUST started to read books again (after about a 9 month hiatus because #3 is one year old) and forgot how relaxing it is and how much I missed it! I will add this book to my little list! :)

Oh, always looking for good books! I am currently reading The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. Great so far! Took me a little while to get into, but now I don't want to put it down! The book I read prior to this was also The Help. (loved)
Have a great day!

I am like you, since blogging I hardly read anymore, my laptop seems to a new limb -- or so my husband tells me. This looks really good. Will put it on my wish list.

I read a Mitford book the end of last year and loved it, great recc.

I LOVED The Help and it was so hard to open up a book after that one. It really was the best one I had read in years.

I will look into this!

I'm reading The Lightning Thief! Yes, it is juvenile fiction, but S. really got me into it! I decided to read it to my class... they are all over Greek mythology!
